01 / THE WORKFLOW

The protocol is part of the partner agreement.

AS2 exchanges business data over HTTP using defined message and security mechanisms. A partner agreement must specify identifiers, endpoint addresses, certificates, payload requirements and the acknowledgment expected. These decisions belong together; a working URL alone does not describe an operational connection.

02 / THE WORKFLOW

A receipt answers a specific question.

An AS2 Message Disposition Notification concerns message receipt and processing at the protocol level. It is not the same as an accepted purchase order or a corrected product record. Keep the technical receipt and the business response connected but distinct.

Connect AS2 with the work after delivery.

FileExchange addresses the partner handoff. EDI Parser X interprets structured EDI content when the receiving workflow needs it. An EPCIS payload belongs to a different data model; pharmaceutical event requirements should be reviewed with the Connect RX flow.
